If you needed another reason to visit…
There’s always something going on in Piemonte and barely a week goes by in the spring to autumn months without a festival, food event or sporting race happening somewhere.
There are far too many for me to list here sadly and I direct you to the surprisingly informative website of Visit Piemonte for a broader view of planned events, but there are some events of particular interest in 2024 so I wanted to ensure you know about these!
21+28 April, Giro del Nizza
Tour the hills around Nizza and discover 40+ producers of the famous NIZZA DOCG
3-4 May. Giro d’Italia
Italy’s famous cycle race comes to the Monferrato region once again
11-12 May, Nizza e Barbera Wine Festival
Wine time again! This event is a must for wine lovers, this time all the producers come to Nizza Monferrato and take over the town for two days, where you can try wines from 80+ producers, sample local foods and enjoy the streets of Nizza with a glass of Barbera in hand
1 July, Tour de France
For the first time, the “Grande Départ’ of this iconic cycle race comes to Italy with Stage 3 passing through our local town of Nizza Monferrato
1 September, Palio of Asti
Let yourself be enchanted by the medieval atmosphere, the waving of flags and the sounds of trumpets to announce the entrance into the Piazza the horse and rider selected from towns across Piemonte. Three heats and final make for a true spectacle!
12-13 October, AglianoTerme Fish Festival
This may sound odd, but Agliano Terme cranks up the party spirit with live music, and traditional British Fish & Chips using Norwegian Cod and, yes 30+ wine producers will be there so you can sample wines and buy a bottle or two to enjoy for the evening. Grab yourself a hay bale and a bottle and take in the atmosphere (be prepared to queue for the food!).
October to December, International Alba Truffle Fair (exact dates TBC)
For truffle lovers this is a must. The International Alba White Truffle Fair is one of the main showcases of haute gastronomy and Italian excellence. The heart of the Fair is the Alba White Truffle World Market, the perfect place to taste and buy truffles from our region. Visit the exhibition, sample truffles, watching cooking demonstrations or just soak up the heady smell of truffle in the air and book somewhere to eat - nearly every restaurant in the region during the fair period will have truffle additions to their menus.
